I am a scientist broadly interested in the history of molecular oxygen (O2) on Earth. When did O2 first become available? When and why did O2 availability dramatically change? How did biology drive and respond to these O2 fluctuations? To answer questions like these, I use a combination of geology and chemistry, or "Geochemistry".
